The Brittle Corpse of Discourse - Tim Allen
The Brittle Corpse of Discourse
“We’re surely doomed, but don’t despair! Abandoning the ruined decks Tim Allen’s surrealist vibes and dark socialist wit are mixing it here and now, making obdurate mischief like there’s no tomorrow.”
Drew Milne
“Reading these poems, each named after a horse that died in a race, I’m reminded of Shostakovich’s late chamber works, where it sounds as if the anguished composer is hitting the keyboard with the piano stool. One poem references Magritte who wished to make “everyday objects shriek out loud” and there is indeed shrieking and rage in these poems but held together by a thorny, compelling, musical virtuosity. There is a tenderness refusing to be blind to the cruelty of our time. An uncanny, beautiful and necessary work.”
Randolph Healy, author of “The Electron-Ghost Casino”
